AKRON, Ohio – Kent State University will show its appreciation to military members and their families by hosting a military-exclusive hospitality chalet during the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational at the historic Firestone Country Club on Aug. 5-9.
Located adjacent to the 14th green at Firestone Country Club, the Birdies for the Brave Patriots’ Outpost presented by Kent State University will be open from Thursday, Aug. 6, through Sunday, Aug. 9, from 9 a.m. until the end of play each day – offering military guests complimentary food and beverages and a relaxing venue for viewing all of the tournament action.
The Outpost is part of Birdies for the Brave®, a national military outreach initiative proudly supported by the PGA TOUR, which is dedicated to honoring and showing appreciation to the courageous members of our U.S. Armed Forces and their families. As part of Birdies for the Brave, the Bridgestone Invitational will provide complimentary admission to active duty, National Guard and Reserve military members, military retirees and their dependents with a military ID shown at the gate, along with a military ticket voucher. Veterans may also receive one complimentary ticket and may purchase an additional guest ticket for $35.
Military guests may obtain a military ticket voucher by visiting birdiesforthebrave.sheerid.com and having their military status verified by SheerID. A military ticket voucher can then be downloaded from the website. The complimentary and discounted tickets are made possible through a supporting sponsorship by Quicken Loans.
“We feel privileged for the opportunity to partner with the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational and Birdies for the Brave to express our sincere gratitude to those who put their lives on the line every day to keep America safe and free,” said Kent State President Beverly Warren. “We hope military members, veterans and their families take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to share camaraderie while watching some of the greatest players in the world compete at Firestone Country Club.”
Birdies for the Brave (www.birdiesforthebrave.org) was originally created in 2006 by PGA TOUR player Phil Mickelson and his wife, Amy.
