TFTGA is a local chapter of The First Tee National program, an initiative of the World Golf Foundation. The oversight committee includes the PGA TOUR, PGA of America, LPGA Tour, Augusta National Golf Club and USGA. The Honorary Chairman of The First Tee National is former President George H. Bush. TFTGA provides the golf and life skills experience that will enable kids from every walk of life to partake of a game that teaches values for life and which can be played for a lifetime. TFTGA serves Austin through its after-school programs, weekend and summer clinics and tournaments. TFTGA's highly trained LPGA and PGA teaching professionals partner with enthusiastic and caring adult mentors to teach the game of golf and the inherent values found in the game. The youth are empowered with values like honesty, integrity and confidence that can easily be transferred to life skills. These skills can provide youth with the ability to deal with challenges as tough as economic hardship, fractured families or a lack of role models. With the opening of its new facility at 51st and Ed Bluestein Blvd., TFTGA will provide Austin, and specifically the East Community, with a welcoming environment for youth and family fun. Children's Medical Center Foundation of Central Texas The Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas replaced Children's Hospital of Austin in the spring of 2007. A member of the Seton Healthcare Network, a not-for-profit community provider, it will continue to serve the 46-county Central Texas region's sick and injured children. In keeping with our mission to care for and improve the health of those we serve, our patients (ages newborn to 18) receive the highest level of medical care regardless of their ability to pay. Our commitment is focused on treating the specialized needs of children. The new medical center will provide a world-class facility to the children of our communities in an environment that is designed specifically for them. Our dedicated team of physicians, nurses, technicians and therapists are trained and experienced in the care of children and have devoted their careers not just to medicine, but to pediatric medicine. |
