Tom Watson and Peter Jacobsen to Make First Appearances at Local Stop of Champions Tour

BALTIMORE (July 14, 2004) - Organizers of the 2004 Constellation Energy Classic today announced the initial roster of golfers who have committed to compete in the Baltimore-area stop of the Champions Tour, to be held at Hayfields Country Club in Hunt Valley, Md., from Sept. 27 - Oct. 3, 2004.

Among the players announced are Tom Watson, who had his finest year on the Champions Tour last year, when he earned all of the circuit's top honors and was the leading money-winner, and Peter Jacobsen, who joined the Champions Tour this year after seven career PGA TOUR victories, including the 2003 Greater Hartford Open.

Joining Watson and Jacobsen will be Larry Nelson, who won the inaugural Constellation Energy Classic in 2003, earning $225,000 in prize money, and Jim Thorpe, a Morgan State University graduate who holds seven Champions Tour wins, including the 2003 Long Island Classic and the 2003 Charles Schwab Cup Championship.

In the months leading up to the tournament, organizers are expected to announce dozens of Champions Tour members, who will be competing for a purse of $1.6 million at the Constellation Energy Classic.

"We are thrilled that these top Champions Tour golfers have already committed to play in the Constellation Energy Classic," said Joe Rotellini, tournament director of the Constellation Energy Classic. "Ticket holders will have a chance to see some of the game's greatest players ever, up close and in action, right here in Baltimore."

Proceeds from the Constellation Energy Classic will be distributed through the Baltimore Classic Fund to four Maryland-based charities - the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Kennedy Krieger Institute, Living Classrooms Foundation and the Robert Packard Center for ALS Research at Johns Hopkins. Last year more than $300,000 was raised for organizations through the Fund.
