Playing members of the 2007 U.S. and International teams from the Presidents Cup.
Playing members of the 2006 U.S. and European Ryder Cup teams.
The top-50 players, including any tied for 50th place, from the Official World Golf Ranking as of Monday, July 21, 2008.
The top-50 players, including any tied for 50th place, from the Official World Golf Ranking as of Monday, July 28, 2008.
Tournament winners, whose victories are considered official, of tournaments on the Federation Tours since the prior year's Bridgestone Invitational with an Official World Golf Ranking Strength of Field Rating of 115 points or more.
The winners of the following tournaments:
Japan Golf Tour Championship (July 3-6, 2008)
Australian PGA Championship (Dec. 6-9, 2007)
South African Tour's Vodacom Championship (Feb. 14-17, 2008)
Asian Tour's Volvo Masters of Asia (Dec. 6-9, 2007)
The players have until 5 p.m. ET on the Friday of the week preceeding the tournament to officially commit to playing.
The field is released and published by the PGA TOUR and PGATOUR.COM as soon as possible after 5 p.m. ET on that Friday.
