AT&T National

BETHESDA, MD - The AT&T National will once again return to Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md., for an additional three years after members voted to bring the successful tournament back to the Blue Course. The voting results were jointly announced by Greg McLaughlin, president of the Tiger Woods Foundation and Bret Hart, president of Congressional Country Club. The new term for the PGA TOUR event runs from 2012-2014 with an additional three year option for 2015-2017.

"I'm very proud to host my event at such an amazing, historic course and I would like to thank the members and board at Congressional Country Club," tournament host Tiger Woods said. "Everyone involved with Congressional Country Club has embraced this event, and I am grateful for their tremendous support. I know the players and the fans enjoy the Blue Course, and I'm thrilled we will be able to hold our championship there long into the future."

"Our members have voted to continue the partnership with Tiger Woods, the Tiger Woods Foundation and the PGA TOUR to bring professional golf to the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area," Hart said.  "We are very excited to host Tiger Woods and professional golf as they face the challenges of our Blue Course as well as the positive economic impact and charitable giving that the tournament generates for our region."

The AT&T National brings golf's finest players to the D.C. area while benefiting the Tiger Woods Foundation and paying tribute to the men and women in our Armed Forces.  Woods will return to Congressional Country Club for the 2009 AT&T National that will be held on July 1-5. The tournament has not yet announced a location for the 2010 and 2011 events while Congressional Country Club hosts the U.S. Open.

South Korean star K.J. Choi shot a final-round 68 for a 9-under 271 total to win the inaugural AT&T National, taking home the silver replica Capitol Building trophy. In 2008 Southern California native Anthony Kim emerged from the pack at the tournament when, three shots behind going into the final round, he closed with a 5-under 65 for a two-shot victory over Fredrik Jacobson.

Congressional Country Club, which opened in 1924, is par-72 course covering 7,173 yards. The course has played host to four majors--two U.S. Opens (1964 and 1997), one PGA Championship (1976) and the U.S. Senior Open (1995) and will host the U.S. Open once again in 2011.
