Travelers Championship

HARTFORD, Conn., April 25, 2007 - The Travelers Championship, Connecticut's PGA TOUR event, announced today that legendary film star Paul Newman will play a ceremonial role in the festivities of the Travelers Championship Celebrity Pro-Am. ESPN personality Chris Berman will compete in the Pro-Am and will serve as host of the event. A highlight of Connecticut's PGA TOUR event, the Celebrity Pro-Am has a legacy of drawing esteemed celebrities from the entertainment and sports worlds. The Pro-Am will be played on June 20 at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn. Tee times for the Pro-Am will be from 6:50 a.m. - 8:50 a.m. and again from 11:50 a.m. - 1:50 p.m.

The Travelers Championship will be played June 18-24, 2007. In support of the PGA TOUR's Tradition of Giving Back, all proceeds of the Championship will be donated to co-charities The Hole In The Wall Gang Camp of Ashford, Conn. and the Greater Hartford Jaycees.

Paul Newman, a Hollywood icon also recognized for tremendous philanthropy, founded The Hole in The Wall Gang Camp in 1988. The Camp enables children with cancer and other serious illnesses to enjoy a camping experience of the highest quality. Of the Camp, Newman has said, "It's all about the kids. People are absolutely amazed. We have children who tell us that anticipating a week in the summer that they will be at Camp is what keeps them going all year."

Dynamic sportscaster Chris Berman has been a great enthusiast of Connecticut's PGA TOUR event for years, and is known for infusing his energy into the event. Berman, an avid golfer, has been on-air with ESPN since the station was founded in 1979. He is best known as the voice of NFL Sundays. Since 2003, Berman has displayed his affinity for golf while providing ESPN's play-by-play during the U.S. Open. Known for his colorful commentary and energetic delivery, Berman is always a crowd pleaser at the Celebrity Pro-Am.

"The tournament has donated more than $25 million to the Greater Hartford community over the past 55 years," said Nathan Grube, tournament director of the Travelers Championship. "As we embark on a new era during the inaugural Travelers Championship, we look forward to growing that number even more and we greatly appreciate the support of Paul and Chris to accomplish this goal."

All of The Hole in The Wall Gang Camp's services are offered free of charge to the campers. Camp attendance offers a critical experience in the life of a seriously ill child, encouraging the heart, enlarging the spirit and empowering the will all year long. Each summer more than 1,000 children between the ages of seven and fifteen from across the country and abroad attend the Camp. At the Camp, these seriously ill youngsters enjoy horseback riding, boating, swimming, fishing, crafts, archery, sports and recreation, all while discovering that they can do more than they ever thought possible. For hospitalized children with serious illnesses, the Camp's Hospital Outreach program takes "Camp-in-a-Suitcase" programs to New England hospitals and clinics, where it provides a bedside experience to raise the spirits and help sustain youngsters for the road ahead.

The Greater Hartford Jaycees will use proceeds of the Travelers Championship to serve numerous, diverse charitable organizations through grants and scholarships, as they have in their long-term relationship with the tournament and the PGA TOUR. The mission of the Greater Hartford Jaycees is leadership development through community service.
