Introduction
Whether it is the first putt a youngster sinks on a practice green or the last hole of the RBC Canadian Open Championship, the Royal Canadian Golf Association provides a helping hand in Canada's greatest golfing moments.

Recognized by Sport Canada as the National Sport Organization and  governing body of golf in Canada, the RCGA has been serving Canadian golfers since 1895, providing support, encouragement and expertise as the game and the country have grown. As golf drives forward into this new millennium, the RCGA will be there to serve the increasingly diverse needs of Canada's golfers.

Membership in the RCGA comes with a golfer's membership in their respective provincial golf association and member club.  There are almost 400,000 RCGA members playing at over 1,600 associated clubs across Canada.  Members carry the RCGA membership card, symbolizing their investment in the advancement of the game at all levels and ensuring its continued health well into the future.

Canada's golf population is growing and the RCGA is poised to grow with the game, supporting and promoting the health of Canadian golf for future generations.

Profits from the two tournaments then go back into junior programs, amateur tournaments, scholarships and other RCGA member services.

Providing a level playing field - The RCGA works with the international golfing community to develop and oversee the Rules of Golf and Amateur Status, handicapping and course ratings in Canada. Though publications and seminars, the RCGA provides information and instruction to member clubs in cooperation with provincial golf associations.

Protecting the environment - The RCGA provides member clubs with the latest information about turf management, ensuring Canadian golfers have the best playing conditions possible while protecting the environment. Through sponsorship of the Canadian Turfgrass Research Foundation and the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System of Canada, the RCGA is promoting research and development in environmental and agronomic fields.

Keeping you informed - Golf Canada magazine, the official magazine of the RCGA and the E-Golf Canada news letter reports RCGA news and features the people, courses and issues that influence the Canadian game several times a year. The RCGA also conducts golf industry research, informational seminars and provides publications to help clubs in the management and operation of their facilities.

Remembering the past - The RCGA operates the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame and its associated archives, located in the Leonard E. Shore Building at Glen Abbey. School groups, families and interested golfers alike can view the history of the game, from the first feathery balls and hickory-shafted clubs to the high-tech equipment of today, in interactive displays on site at the museum.

Investing in the future - The RCGA helps young people complete their education through its support of the RCGA Foundation and its scholarship granting program.

. . . And There's More - Canada's golfing population is growing in leaps and bounds and the RCGA is poised to grow with the game, supporting and promoting the health of Canadian golf well into the next millennium.
