The mission of the Ridgewood Education Foundation is to enhance the quality of education in the Ridgewood Public Schools. Since 1989 the Foundation has awarded more than $400,000 in grants for special projects created by forward thinking teachers, parents, students and alumni. The Valley Hospital Foundation was incorporated in 1980 to serve as the philanthropic component of The Valley Hospital. The Foundation's mission is to promote charitable support for the work of The Valley Hospital and Valley Home Care. The Foundation is led by a volunteer Board of Trustees, and is chaired by Denis J. Sullivan. The Valley Hospital is a not-for-profit 451 bed hospital, serving the healthcare needs of over 400,000 people in Bergen and Passaic Counties and southern New York State. Valley is distinguished by advanced clinical services, delivered with attention to personalized care. In 2007, Valley was the second busiest hospital in the state of New Jersey, with over 48,000 admissions and 66,000 Emergency Department visits. Valley has received national recognition for quality, outstanding clinical outcomes and service excellence. Valley Home Care serves the home care and Hospice needs of people in Bergen and Passaic Counties. With over 180,000 home visits each year, Valley Home Care is known for the variety and high quality of its clinical services. Founded in 1944, seven years before the hospital opened, The Valley Hospital Auxiliary has a distinguished history of service for more than 60 years. The Auxiliary mission includes raising funds for The Valley Hospital and Valley Home Care, serving as advocates for the hospital in the community, and providing volunteer service. The Auxiliary has more than 2,000 members in 16 communities who log thousands of volunteer hours each year. They organize and execute a wide variety of fundraising events, including formal galas, a kitchen tour and an annual Journal. The Auxiliary Golf Outing is held annually at Ridgewood Country Club. They also operate Kurth Cafe, the hospital coffee shop, and Kurth Gift Shop. Since its inception The Valley Hospital Auxiliary has raised over $13 million to benefit the healthcare needs of all the people who are served by Valley. The mission of The First Tee of Metropolitan New York is to impact the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and education programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf. The First Tee of Essex County In August of 2006, The First Tee of Essex County was formed through a partnership between the Metropolitan Golf Association, New Jersey PGA and New Jersey State Golf Association. Located at Weequahic Park Golf Course in the heart of Newark's South Ward, the organization converted a blighted former dumping site into a beautiful Junior Learning Facility to serve the youth of Essex County. This facility is a versatile practive area that can be used for short game instruction, a limited flight driving range and a three-hole short course to introduce youth people to the game and its positive values. | The Civic Engagement Fund will facilitate efforts between civic leaders and Bergen Community College, including: encouraging Bergen's students to serve their community through service learning; supporting the Fifth Friday Forum and Suburban Policy Center; providing assistance to faculty performing civic-related research; and promoting the College as a venue for the discussion of national, state and local issues. |

For the past 75 years the JLBC has been assessing community need, creating solutions and training women as volunteers to make Bergen County communities healthier, more vital places to live. During this 75 year history, the impact of JLBC on Bergen County communities has been exhibited in many ways. In 1966, the JLBC and a group of concerned community representatives founded The Volunteer Center of Bergen County, and in 1988 Rebuilding Together - Bergen County was brought to Bergen County by the JBLC. The JBLC partnerd with the American Red Cross and pledged $100,000, as well as provided a team to plan and oversee the renovation of the Hackensack Red Cross Chapter House. For 75 years, the JBLC has played a pivotal role in shaping our community |
