Golf course architect Jeff Blume, who joined the Houston Golf Association in 1998, will serve as General Chairman of the 2009 Shell Houston Open. Blume succeeds Clay Scott, who volunteered his time in that position in 2007 and 2008.

Blume is managing general partner and senior architect for Jeffrey D. Blume, Limited, a firm he started in 1997.

Blume named the following Vice Chairs for the event, set the week of March 30-April 5:

  • Herschel Sikes (Tournament Operations)
  • Doug Kurz (Tournament Support)
  • Ray Cantrell (Mobility & Spectator Services)
  • Jim Berry (Hospitality)
  • John Traina (Pro-Am Services)
  • Rick Donley (PGA TOUR Support)

All of the members of the Shell Houston Open Operating Committee are volunteers for the Houston Golf Association, which has been promoting PGA TOUR golf in the region since 1946. The Houston Golf Association is a 501c (3) non-profit organization which has generated $50 million for local charities since 1974.
