Birdies for Charity The Birdies for Charity program is held each year in conjunction with THE PLAYERS Championship, giving local organizations an opportunity to raise money for programs and those they serve. For the 2008 tournament, we want to help charities raise more money for their organization using THE PLAYERS Championship as the vehicle to achieve this goal. Similar to a walk-a-thon, Birdies for Charity participants make a pledge for each birdie made by the player field during THE PLAYERS Championship. In 2007, 1370 birdies were made during the four-day event, so a $.03 pledge per birdie would result in a $41.10 contribution to a local charity. To encourage contributors and increase excitement, participants are asked to guess the number of birdies that will be made during the competitive rounds of the tournament. The participant guessing the correct number of birdies made at the 2008 tournament will win a fabulous grand prize. THE PLAYERS Birdies for Charity campaign kicks off April 1 and the deadline for entries is Tuesday, May 8.
