SAN ROQUE, Spain -- Graeme Storm of England birdied the last three holes Friday to shoot a 5-under 67 and take a one-stroke lead after the second round of the Spanish Open.

Storm totaled 132 strokes to be 12-under and lead a group of five golfers, including Robert Karlsson of Sweden, who had a hole-in-one in his course-record 9-under 63.

Englishmen David Griffiths and John Bickerton, Titch Moore of South Africa and Carl Suneson of Spain also trail Storm by one shot.

Earlier, Thomas Bjorn of Denmark and Gary Orr of Scotland shot 64s to break the course record, until Karlsson's later round.

Karlsson's ace at the fourth hole was with an eight-iron of 175 yards.

Colin Montgomerie birdied three of the last four holes -- and five of the last 10 -- to shoot 68 and be tied for 12th at 8-under.

"I was on the cutoff after eight holes, and that is no good, but made five birdies," Montgomerie said. "Three or four (shots) back is nothing. I need two 66s now and that is well within range."

Storm, who tied for second at last year's European Open, said he was happy with his driving.

"My caddie told me to relax and be patient and the birdies would come along. And that's what they did," Storm said.

Griffiths, who regained his European Tour card by finishing third at Qualifying School last November, made a 30-foot birdie putt at the eighth hole.

"I played very solid and have not made a bogey in two days," Griffiths said. "I've been playing solid since March, tee to green, and today I putted well."

Bjorn played well despite being hindered by a respiratory virus and neck and shoulder problems. "It was one of those days when golf seemed easy," Bjorn said. "I hit a lot of good shots and stress seemed far away."
