Dates adjusted for 2007 Presidents Cup

MONTREAL, Quebec, Canada -- It was announced Tuesday that dates for the 2007 Presidents Cup will be adjusted when the seventh edition of the biennial team match-play competition comes to The Royal Montreal Golf Club in Montreal, Canada.

The Presidents Cup will now be held Sept. 24-30, 2007, after originally being scheduled for Sept. 18-23.

“This move will help ensure that world’s best players have an extra week to prepare for the 2007 Presidents Cup,” said PGA TOUR Commissioner Tim Finchem. “With the conclusion of the FedEx Cup Competition at THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola the week Sept. 10-16, we felt that the competitors could use an extra week to rest and be fully prepared for The Presidents Cup.”

THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola will be the culminating event of the inaugural year-long FedEx Cup competition and will be the final tournament of the four-event series which will feature the TOUR’s best players.

The 2007 event will mark the seventh playing of The Presidents Cup, and the third time it has been contested outside the United States. The 1998 Presidents Cup was held at Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Melbourne, Australia and the 2003 event was held at the Gary Player-designed Links Course on the Fancourt Hotel and Country Club Estate in George, South Africa.

The United States has won four of the first six Presidents Cups, with the Internationals winning in 1998 and the event ending with the teams sharing the Cup in 2003.

The event will feature many of the world's best golfers with 12 representing the United States and 12 making up the International Team of players from around the world, excluding Europe, in team match-play competition.
