SYNOPSIS
 Tiger Woods started the final round of the American Express Championship trailing Miguel Angel Jimenez and Chris Perry by one stroke. He ended up beating the Spaniard with a birdie on the first playoff hole, but not before quite a bit of excitement in the final round. On a windy day when the average score was 75.16, Woods was nothing short of sensational -- until he got to the troublesome 17th hole, a 536-yard par 5 that was almost universally despised. Woods had opened a four-stroke lead when he hit his tee shot only to tap in for a water-logged triple bogey. Jimenez later bogeyed the 18th hole to set the stage for the playoff. "When you hit three perfect golf shots and end up making 8, something's wrong with the hole," said Woods' playing partner, Tom Lehman.
