EXPLANATIONS
When a player receives a Major Medical Extension, he has a specified number of events (the greater of the average number of his starts in the three previous calendar years or the average played by players in the Top 125 category in the previous year) minus the number of events he played during the year of his injury to earn enough money in the current season that when added to his earnings the previous year would have placed him 125th or higher on the previous year's money list. At that point, that player plays out of the Major Medical Extension category for the remainder of the season. If his combined earnings place him between 126th and 150th on the previous year's money list, that player can compete out of that category for the rest of the year and he receives an exemption into Finals of the Qualifying Tournament.
If a player was injured and missed less than four months the previous year, he can be granted a Minor Medical Extension. The Minor Medical Extension category follows the Nationwide/Qualifying Tournament category in priority for tournament play.
