Tiger Woods (first) eagled No. 18 for the second consecutive day and leads the field with two eagles on the week.

Jim Furyk posted his first bogey of the week on his 15th hole (No. 6), ending a streak of 44 holes without a bogey in stroke-play events dating back to the final round of the Canadian Open.

While he has three top-10s at the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship and six top-10s at the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational, Jim Furyk (tied for second) has yet to post a top 10 at the American Express Championship -- his best finish in five previous starts was a tie for 11th in 1999.

Jim Furyk has posted top 10s in six of his last seven finishes on the PGA TOUR, including a victory in his last TOUR start at the Canadian Open.

Making his first World Golf Championships start this week, Brett Quigley (sixth) matched Tiger Woods for the low round of the day on Friday at 7-under-par 64. Quigley, searching for his first TOUR victory in his 280th start, has a career-best nine top-10s in 2006, including four in his last six starts.

Sergio Garcia has five top-10s at the American Express Championship, including the last three years. His streak is in jeopardy this week as he stands tied for 43rd through the first 36 holes.

Padraig Harrington (fifth) is competing in his 22nd consecutive World Golf Championships event this week and searching for his first victory in the series -- his best previous finish has been tied for fifth (three times), most recently at the 2006 World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship. He did not qualify for the Accenture Match Play Championship in 1999 but has played in every event subsequently. He has also played in every World Golf Championships-World Cup (unofficial two-player team event) since 2000.

The five-stroke lead for Tiger Woods matches the largest 36-hole lead in tournament history. Woods led by five at the halfway point of the American Express Championship in 2003 en route to victory at the Capital City Club in Woodstock, Ga. The lead is one off the largest 36-hole lead on the PGA TOUR this season held by Phil Mickelson at the BellSouth Classic.

The 127 total for Tiger Woods is the lowest first 36-holes in tournament history. Woods posted a 130 total in winning the American Express Championship at Mount Juliet Conrad in 2002. The 127 total is two strokes off Woods’ career low first 36 total -- a PGA TOUR record-tying 125 when he opened 64-61 at the Bridgestone Invitational in 2000

There were three bogey-free rounds on Friday -- Tiger Woods, Johan Edfors and Chris DiMarco. There have been a total of eight thus far through 36 holes.

Tiger Woods has the opportunity to win the American Express Championship in wire-to-wire fashion for the second time in his career, having done so in 2002 at Mount Juliet Conrad. Woods has won wire-to-wire (no ties) six times in his career on the PGA TOUR.

 Tiger Woods wire-to-wire victories:
2005 -- British Open
2003 -- 100th Cialis Western Open
2002 -- American Express Championship
2002 -- U.S. Open
2000 -- Bridgestone Invitational
2000 -- U.S. Open
