PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- For the second straight year, Sony Corporation, the PGA TOUR and Golf Channel will present live 3D broadcasts during the final two rounds of the Sony Open in Hawaii, scheduled for this Thursday through Sunday at the Waialae Country Club in Honolulu.
The 3D coverage will feature the back nine holes during the climactic third and fourth rounds, enabling viewers to enjoy the competition set against the beautiful backdrop of the Waialae Country Club. The vivid 3D images will be delivered to viewers worldwide, using eight Sony handheld 3D cameras.
The live 3D coverage, which will be produced and distributed by Golf Channel and Comcast, will broadcast from 7:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m. ET on Saturday and from 7 p.m.-10 p.m. ET on Sunday. The third round will re-air beginning at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday and the final round will re-air beginning at 10 p.m. Sunday. 3D coverage will also be made available to PGA TOUR broadcast partners around the world that have 3D capability.
North American cable and satellite systems that will offer customers access to the 3D telecast include: Comcast, DirecTV, Time Warner and Cox in the U.S.; Rogers, Videotron, Telus, Eastlink and Access Communications in Canada. Check local listings for channel information.
Additionally, the following international PGA TOUR broadcast partners will be showing the Sony Open in Hawaii in 3D on their channels: Sky Sports, UK; Viasat, Scandinavia; Sky Italia, Italy; Astro, Malaysia; Truesport, Thailand; Jupiter Golf Network, Japan.
