Player notes
Here are some of the players you'll see on the Golf Channel's coverage of Thursday's first round
RORY McILROY
Rory McIlroy shot a final round 10-under 62 to claim his first TOUR win by four strokes over Phil Mickelson at last year's Wells Fargo Championship. His final round 10-under 62 set the course record and is the lowest finishing score by a winner since Brad Faxons 61 at the 2005 Buick Championship. It is the lowest in relation to par since Ryan Palmer shot the same score to win the 2004 FUNAI Classic at Walt Disney World Resort.
PHIL MICKELSON
Phil Mickelson made his seventh start at the Wells Fargo Championship. He owns five top-10s at Quail Hollow Club (2004-T5, 2005-T7, 2007-T3, 2009-T4, 2010-2).
ANGEL CABRERA
Angel Cabrera finished third at the Wells Fargo Championship in 2010, which is the best finish of his PGA TOUR career in a non-major. His previous best finish on TOUR in a non-major was T4, which he accomplished four different times.
