Course origins
Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club is a welltreed, parkland style 18 hole championship course overlooking the mouth of the Fraser River and Strait of Georgia. The club has hosted many Canadian and Pacific Northwest championships and in 2005 hosted the Bell Canadian Open.

The course was built in 1960 and many of the beautiful trees were donated and planted by the members in the course's early years.

President Bill Clinton visited Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club in 1997 while attending the APEC Conference in Vancouver and played golf with then Canadian Prime Minister Jean Cretien and the President of Singapore. Jack Nicklaus played Shaughnessy in the 1966 Canadian Open and made comments on the golf course's toughness. Don Massengale won the 1966 Canadian Open. -- Source: Golf Course Superintendents Association of America

This week's Kodak Challenge hole
HOLE: The par-4, 315-yard 14th at Shaughnessy
LAST YEAR: The RBC Canadian Open was held on a different course in 2010.
DESCRIPTION: This is a short, deceptive par-4 requiring sound judgment and accuracy. Long hitters may gamble with the driver, but the percentage play is to accurately place the tee shot in the center of the fairway. Players should avoid underplaying the second shot to this long narrow, sloping green. (Click here for tour)
