ShotLink Player notes
Here are some of the players you'll see on the Golf Channel's coverage of Thursday's first round
JIM FURYK
Entering the 2010 Heritage Furyk had already carded his first of three wins in the 2010 PGA TOUR season and ranked 11th in the FedExCup standings. However, entering this week, Furyk has just two top 10s in nine starts and currently ranks 51st in the FedExCup standings. Furyks win at the 2010 Heritage vaulted him from 11th to 2nd in the FedExCup standings. From this point forward last year, Furyk never ranked worse than 11th in the standings en route to winning the FedExCup.
MATT KUCHAR
No one on TOUR in 2010 was better in the opening round than Matt Kuchar. He played 22 of 25 opening rounds under par with an average of 69.28. Kuchar continues to lead the TOUR in opening round scoring in 2011 with an average of 68.25 (1st on TOUR). Averaging 1.94 bogeys per round, Kuchar is one of just two players on TOUR in 2011 averaging less than two bogeys per round (Paul Casey).
JASON DAY
Jason Day has three top 10s in his first eight starts this year thanks in large part to his performance on the greens. In 2011 on the greens, Jason Day ranks 14th on TOUR for putts per round, ninth in one-putts, 10th for feet of putts made per round and 13th for birdie or better conversion percentage.
