Stewart Cink and Ian Poulter were the early adopters but more and more PGA TOUR players are reaching out to their fans via Twitter. So as the 2011 season winds down PGATOUR.COM asked its panel of experts which player was the best to follow.

Tuesday: Best duel of 2011?
UPCOMING ROUNDTABLES
Thursday: Best rookie not named Keegan?

He doesn't get as much recognition as others in Twitterland, but Kris Blanks (@krisblanks) has produced some quality tweets. In addition to sounding off about his own golf game, Blanks isn't afraid to voice his opinion about football, baseball, racing and other sports. His favorite sports teams are an eclectic mix: Florida State football, North Carolina basketball, Dallas Cowboys football and Texas Rangers baseball. He recently posted a photo of a video game of which he had recorded the high score. But my favorite was a photo of a jar of "Pat's Ho Made BBQ Sauce," to which he quipped, "Have no idea how it got there, but it's funny." - Stan Awtrey, Correspondent

Bo Van Pelt's (@bovanpelt) golf-related tweets are clever and witty. But it's his funny tweets about his family, especially his young children, that make him worth following. My two favorites from the year? "My 9 year old girl just asked me how big [her] 16th birthday can be? How scared am I right now?" And, "My 4 yr old at bedtime 'Dad, this blanket makes me hot but not the good looking kind'." - Lauren Deason, Producer

As someone who's barely halfway to one thousand tweets in his two years on Twitter, I'll admit that I'm not the most in tune with the world in 140 characters. That said, I've always enjoyed reading the PGA TOUR's feed because we have some great personalities on TOUR. One tweet in particular has stood out to me this year. It was Stewart Cink's (@stewartcink) note following the earthquake that hit the east coast the week of The Barclays: Note in yardage book from yesterday's practice round here in NJ, "10th tee shakes violently for about 40 sec every 1000 years." - Chris Dunham, Producer

Good question. Stewart Cink started it all, has the most tweeps, got me tweeting and can make you seriously consider buying one of those expensive Big Green Eggs. Paul Azinger, Rickie Fowler and Ian Poulter keep me entertained. Lee Westwood, Bo Van Pelt and Steve Elkington make me laugh. But for pure information and great stuff about golf, the economy and just great random stories, Joe Ogilvie (@ogilviej) is my go-to follow. Sorry to go all intellectual on you, but Ogilvie's links always give me something to think about. - Melanie Hauser, Correspondent

It's hard to pick just one player. Whether it's Joe Ogilvie's insightful tweets, news of Josh Teater's recent trip to Augusta National or reading that a neighbor's dog has become Colt Knost's unwelcome alarm clock, you can always find interesting nuggets on Twitter. Personalities are revealed in the playful exchanges and when a barrage of players took to Twitter to congratulate Luke Donald on his clutch performance at Disney, you could sense the mutual respect. But this has got to be my most recent favorite tweet from Ben Crane (@bencranegolf) -- Never thought I'd be compared to KK, but, sadly, prob true RT @MacPetryshyn #ThingsLongerThanKimsMarriage a round of golf w/ @bencranegolf - Helen Ross, Chief of Correspondents

I'll confess that I'm not much of a Twitterphile, either as a poster or a reader. I don't care about Rory un-following Westy (or was it vice-versa?) or any other of the ninth-grade stuff that goes on there. But I can respect a guy who adopted the thing early, has 1.2 million followers and doesn't hesitate to engage some of them individually. Stewart Cink (@stewartcink) is still the TOUR's Twitter king. - John Schwarb, Producer

Aron Price (@aronpricePGA) failed to keep his PGA TOUR card this year but did it with a ton of humor. A sampling: "Getting married 3 weeks from today. hello cooking and laundry, goodbye farting and being social.. ouch." Also good for keeping up with NASCAR (he watches all the races and is a huge Jimmie Johnson fan) and who's seen at TPC Sawgrass. He also updates his feed a 1-2 times a day, which is perfect. In short, he makes his Tweets count. - Ryan Smithson, Producer

Like his game, Bo Van Pelt (@bovanpelt) is sneaky good when it comes to Twitter. Here are a few recent missives: "Since I know I can't make the cover, will anyone vote for me to be a caddy or spectator on EA Sports TW golf 2012?" ... "How about a persimmon wood, all forged, no belly putter tour where we play for our own money?" ... "Random Text: 'I think this is Mr Van Pelt - if so good luck - this is your UPS driver' have I mentioned my wife has an online shopping issue." And those are just some of the recent ones. Beneath that languid swing and Oklahoma drawl is plenty of good material. - Brian Wacker, Producer
