Children's Hospital Classic was Carballo's second win. His first came in 2007 in his first start on Tour.
Oct. 11, 2011

GETTING HOT AT THE RIGHT TIME OF YEAR -- Miguel Carballo of Argentina picked a very good time of year to play his best. On Sept. 18th, Carballo was 60th on the money list and battling to earn a spot in the Nationwide Tour Championship. In the three weeks that followed, the 32-year-old lost in a playoff (Soboba), finished T7 (Midland) and won (Chattanooga) and is now fifth in earnings. Carballo entered the record book on Sunday when he became the 17th Nationwide Tour player to record three eagles in one round en route to his win.

RUNNING OUT OF TIME -- The Miccosukee Championship is one of only two full-field events remaining. With players running out of opportunities to earn a PGA TOUR card for 2012, the final three events will have stellar fields. Twenty-four of the top 25 are entered in Miami this week, and 58 of the top 60.

JASON GORE FIGHTS BACK -- It's been a long, challenging summer for Jason Gore. In mid June, the Miccosukee Championship defending champion was forced to withdraw from the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open, and on July 12th underwent a procedure to repair bone spurs in his shoulder. He returned to action at the Albertsons Boise Open in mid September and finished T33. The next week, however, Gore was forced to withdraw again after the first round. The popular Californian is set to return at Miami, hopefully healed and poised to finish a very dissatisfying year (four cuts made in eight starts) on a positive note.

JOHN PETERSON MAKES MEMORABLE PRO DEBUT -- Reigning NCAA individual champion John Peterson of LSU continued to impress in his second Nationwide Tour appearance in Chattanooga last week and first as a professional. A 10-under-par 62 on Saturday put him on the leaderboard. A 74 on Sunday was not what he had in mind. His T23 finish earned the Fort Worth, Texas resident a spot in this week's Miccosukee Championship, but he withdrew from the event on Tuesday. Peterson finished T2 in his first Nationwide Tour start in July in Columbus, Ohio.

JAMIE LOVEMARK GETS BACK TO ACTION -- 2010 Nationwide Tour Player of the Year Jamie Lovemark appears set to make his first competitive appearances since the Shell Houston Open on the PGA TOUR in May. Lovemark is entered in this week's Miccosukee Championship, as well as next week's Winn-Dixie Jacksonville Open presented by Planters. Bothered by a bad back since the end of the 2010 season, the 23-year-old Californian underwent back surgery in the summer. He received a medical exemption earlier in the year. In nine PGA TOUR starts this year, Lovemark made two cuts, missed five and withdrew twice. He enjoyed a super year on the Nationwide Tour last year as its youngest active member when he led the money list ($452,951), won the Mexico Open, finished second three times, third twice and had nine top 10s in all.

BRYCE MOLDER'S FIRST IS ALSO NO. 319 -- Bryce Molder's first PGA TOUR win on Sunday was the 319th TOUR win by a Nationwide Tour alumnus. The four-time Georgia Tech All-American played five full seasons on the Nationwide Tour between 2003 and 2008. His lone victory came at the Miccosukee Championship. Molder's playoff victim, Briny Baird, is a 2000 Nationwide Tour graduate.

JOHN MALLINGER IN THE RECORD BOOKS -- John Mallinger has now posted six consecutive top-10 finishes (T9, T3, 2, 2, T6, T6) to tie the Nationwide Tour all-time record. Doug Martin had six in a row during the 1993 season as did Tom Gillis in 2009, but neither came in consecutive weeks. The southern California native has climbed to ninth on the money list.

DID YOU KNOW? -- There are 15 "iron men" on the Nationwide Tour this year....players who have played in all 23 tournaments. At No. 15, Scott Brown is the top money earner among the group. In 2010, only one player competed in all 29 events, Andrew Svoboda, who finished 46th on the money list.

"GETAWAY" PROMOTION ENTERS 10th WEEK -- Golf Channel's "Nationwide Tour Hawaii Getaway" promotion enters its tenth week. One person will win a trip for two to the 2012 Sony Open in Hawaii where the Nationwide Tour class of 2011 will make its 2012 PGA TOUR debut. Fans may enter online by answering player trivia questions at www.golfchannel.com/the25trivia. Last week's featured player was Danny Lee.

BIRTHDAY BOYS -- Celebrating birthdays this week in Miami are Jin Park (12th / turn 32) and Kyle Reifers (13th / 28).

NEXT WEEK -- The Tour will be at TPC Sawgrass, home to the PGA TOUR, in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. Dye's Valley Course will host the second Winn-Dixie Jacksonville Open presented by Planters (Oct. 20-23). The Winn-Dixie event will set the following week's 60-player field for the Nationwide Tour Championship at Daniel Island in Charleston, S.C., based on the money list.
