Several young players took the Nationwide Tour by storm last season -- and look for Danny Lee to do the same in 2011. Lee has more experience than many. He competed at the Masters in 2009 after winning the U.S. Amateur the previous year at the age of 18.
While still an amateur, Lee won the Johnnie Walker Classic in Feb. 2009 to become the youngest ever to win on the European Tour. (Matteo Manassero has since surpassed his record.) Believe it or not, Lee, who was born in South Korea and immigrated to New Zealand with his family when he was 8, will be just 20 when he opens play this season on the Nationwide Tour.
Looking back on his amateur career Lee is one of those can't-miss players who isn't afraid to make birdies as he's won eight worldwide tournaments. He should fare well on the Nationwide Tour where it's all about going low. Who knows? He just might break Jamie Lovemark's record set last season as the youngest to win the money title at 22.
