Seven of 10 contenders for the top spot in the FedExCup standings made the cut at Royal St. George's this week. Nick Watney missed the cut, but remains in position to hold on to his lead for another week.
John Deere Classic champion Steve Stricker is just 125 points behind Watney, who took over the lead after winning the AT&T National. Stricker's dramatic victory at TPC Deere Run was his second of the year, making him the only player to have multiple TOUR victories in each of the last three seasons. A top-four performance a Royal St. George's will more than likely move him to No. 1.
This week marks the first British Open appearance for former FedExCup point leader Mark WIlson, and also top FedExCup performers Gary Woodland and Webb Simpson.
Players who had a chance to finish the week at No. 1 but missed the cut were Watney, World No. 1 and former FedExCup points leader Luke Donald and 2010 FedExCup runner-up Matt Kuchar.
Below is a list of the 10 players who could have been No. 1 in the FedExCup standings at week's end, as well as their previous results in the British Open. Players marked with an asterik (*) made the cut.
