While the talks of the town at the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide Insurance were 2011 champion Steve Stricker and Luke Donald, who moved atop the FedExCup standings this week, someone you may not be very familiar with had the most productive week.
Brandt Jobe, who notched his fourth career second-place finish at Murifield Village, jumped 33 spots in the standings, from 68th to 35th. Jobe has never qualified for the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup, but the 45-year-old who earned his 2011 TOUR card through q-school has made 12 of 17 cuts this year and amassed 648 FedExCup points (it only took 380 points to qualify for last year's Playoffs).
Making moves into the top 125 this week were Chris Riley, whose T30 at Murifield Village allowed him to jump from 141st to 121st in the latest standings and Ohio native Ben Curtis. The 2003 British Open Champion, Curtis grew up less than 20 miles from Murifield Village. His T13 got him to 111th in the standings -- which is about the position he finished three of the last four Regular Seasons (110th in 2007, 94th in 2009, 116th in 2010).
Among those going in reverse after missing the cut at the Memorial were Sean O'Hair, Jimmy Walker and Chris Kirk. Each of those three last earned FedExCup points at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial but have missed the weekend rounds in each of the last two events.
