TAMPA -- The Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am announced that actor, advocate and author Michael J. Fox will make his second appearance at the 2010 Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am on April 12-18 at TPC Tampa Bay.

"Fox's passion and love for life and people is an encouragement to everyone he meets," said Amy Hawk, tournament director of the Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am. "We are honored to have him in our field again this year. He brings an inspirational spirit to our tournament and celebrity field."

Fox, an award-winning actor, founded The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research in 2000 after announcing his Parkinson's disease diagnosis to the public in 1998. It is now the world's largest private funder of Parkinson's research, having funded about $175 million in research to date. Fox is also known as a bestselling author. His best-selling 2002 memoir, Lucky Man, has been translated into seven languages, and the audio version received a 2002 Grammy award nomination. His second memoir and 2009 New York Times Bestseller, Always Looking Up: The Adventures of an Incurable Optimist received a Grammy for the audiobook recording. Fox's third book, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Future: Twists and Turns and Lessons Learned, a compendium of life wisdom and advice for graduates, will be published in April.

In addition to his Grammy nomination and win, Fox is the winner of five Emmy awards (most recently in September 2009 for his multi-episode guest role on the television drama Rescue Me), four Golden Globes, a People's Choice award and two SAG awards.

Fox made his debut in the 2009 tournament where he was paired with Champions Tour professional Tim Simpson, who underwent deep brain stimulation in 2005 to treat an essential tremor.

This year Fox will join George Lopez, Vince Gill, Stone Phillips, Vinny Testaverde, Joe Theismann, Derrick Brooks, and Rondé Barber in the celebrity field. Some of the A-List professional commitments include Brad Bryant, Bernhard Langer, Tom Watson, Fred Funk, Mark O'Meara, Hale Irwin and Loren Roberts.

The 2010 Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am will take place on April 12-18 at TPC Tampa Bay in Lutz, FL. Tickets are available for purchase by calling the tournament office at 813-265-4653 or visiting www.outbackproam.com.
