ROUND 2 UNDER WAY (9:10 a.m.) -- The rain is out of the way and play has resumed at St. George's. With an ultra-long summer day (up north, no less) in store, the second round should still be completed barring another weather delay; the last group tees off at 4:05 p.m. ET. The sun sets in the area just before 9 p.m.

EXPERT PREVIEW: PGA TOUR NETWORK on-site correspondent Bob Stevens previews Round 2:

Hit the fairways, hit the fairways, hit the fairways. It has to be the mantra on cut-down day at the RBC Canadian Open. Every player I talked to after their opening round talked about the bogeys they made when they missed the generous fairways and the birdie opportunities they had when they gave themselves a chance. What makes the 4-inch rough even tougher is that when you get into it off the tee, you're likely going to miss the green as well. And when you do, you're in more deep stuff, then you're really scrambling for pars. Watch for players to be less aggressive off the tee to make sure they keep it in the short grass today.
Also watch for this tournament to bunch up big time today because few of the leaders have any special confidence coming into the tournament. Just about everybody near the top of the leaderboard has a sad story to tell about their recent play. Vance Veazey couldn't get that excited about what was easily his best round of the year -- a 7-birdie 64 -- because his most recent round was an 81 in Reno last Sunday. In his 15 or so years on various tours, he thinks he's seen just about everything from his own game. He's still looking to finish inside the top 10 for the first time in 104 career starts -- his best finish is a tie for 10th at his home course in the 2007 St. Jude Classic.
What that means is that anyone under par in the opening round is just fine. More than a handful of players told us that 2 under was a good round in perfect conditions and that anything better was a bonus. Spencer Levin might be an interesting name to watch early this morning. He tees off at 7:10 a.m. ET and plays par 5s on two of his first three holes (Nos. 9 and 11). Levin's made 17 of 21 cuts this year, but only has one top 10. If he gets off to a good start, he could set the bar for everyone to chase all morning. The forecast calls for thunderstorms coming from the west in the afternoon.
