CHARLIE WI. He just keeps getting closer and closer to that breakthrough victory. Wi hasn't finished lower than 21st in his last three starts -- and one of those was solo fourth on a major-league course at the AT&T National.
Mike McAllister |
 | GRAHAM DELAET. Mike Weir, the more celebrated Canadian golfer, technically qualifies as a sleeper because of his recent struggles. But his countryman DeLaet is actually having a better year and is more consistent from the fairway.
Lauren Deason |
CHRIS STROUD. He hasn't done much since his T10 at THE PLAYERS, so he's the ultimate sleeper. As we approach the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup, Stroud -- currently ranked 129th -- will be inspired to play hard to make a playoff run.
John Swantek |
NICK TAYLOR. The 2007 Canadian Amateur champion -- a senior at the University of Washington -- just won the Ben Hogan award as the nation's top collegiate golfer. He's turning pro after the U.S. Amateur in August, and offers a glimpse of what to expect. |
Casey Black |
FRED COUPLES. Even though he hasn't won on TOUR in a while, he can still compete -- as displayed by his three Champions Tour wins and 6th place finish at the Masters. He's sponsored by RBC, so perhaps there's more incentive to do well...
Ryan Smithson |
BRENDON DE JONGE. This guy is having a big year and could easily pull a Nathan Green this week. Has only a slightly easier name to pronounce than Louis Oosthuizen, and even hails from the same continent. Probably wont qualify as a sleeper for long.
Anne Szeker |
CHAD CAMPBELL. His stats for the year aren't great -- though he is 11th in par-3 performance. Hoping he builds on recent steady play in his last three starts (T5 at Travelers, T34 at John Deere, T15 at Reno-Tahoe) for a high finish in Canada.

ROBERT GARRIGUS. At 110th in the FedExCup standings, Garrigus needs to play well to stay in the top 125. He's also had a couple of good results in the last month with that infamous runner-up in Memphis and a tie for 10th at last week's Reno-Tahoe Open.

LAST WEEK: Robert Rock's T7 finish at the British Open gave Anne Szeker her second-consecutive top sleeper pick and inched her closer to Casey Black's lead.
