Weather: Mostly sunny with an afternoon of 86 degrees. Winds N 8-12 mph.
The 36-hole cut came at 4-under 138 with 74 players making it to the weekend. The 138 ties the tournament record for lowest cut (1991, 1993, 1998 and 1999). The 4-under represents the lowest 36-hole cut on TOUR since the 2009 Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

Defending champion Steve Stricker (16-under 126) holds a one shot lead over Paul Goydos after the second round of the John Deere Classic. Three players are T3 at 11-under.
Stricker followed his first round 60 with a 66 on Friday to set the 36-hole tournament record with a 126. David Frost held the tournament record since 2000 with a 127.
Stricker recorded two bogeys today, the first coming No. 14 (started on No. 10). It was his first bogey at TPC Deere Run since the sixth hole in round three of last year's John Deere Classic.
Stricker has won two of nine tournaments when holding the second-round lead/co-lead. His two wins when holding the 36-hole lead came at the 1996 Western Open (tied) and the 2009 Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial (1 stroke lead).
Stricker matched his career-best opening 36-hole score of 126. He also recorded a 126 at the 2009 Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, where he won.
Stricker's 126 is three shots more than his career best consecutive round score of 123. Stricker recorded the 123 at the 2009 Bob Hope Classic in round three and round four (61-62). The TOUR record for consecutive rounds is 122 set last year at the Frys.com Open by Troy Matteson.
Stricker, who claimed his eighth PGA TOUR career win earlier this year at the Northern Trust Open, is making his 12th start of the year.
Geoff Ogilvy (SBS Championship) and Dustin Johnson (AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am) are the only two players to successfully defend their titles this season.
Goydos' 127 is a career best opening 36-hole score. His previous best open 36-hole score was a 128 at the 2009 Valero Texas Open (63-65).
Goydos did not have a bogey until his 32nd hole of the week on the par-4, 5th hole (started on No. 10).
There have been only four wins by players in their 40s this season on TOUR (Stricker, Beckman and Els-2) compared to nine last season and nine in 2008. Stricker and Goydos are both in their 40s. This season there have been 11 winners in their 20s and 12 in their 30s.
Only nine of 27 second-round leaders/co-leaders have gone on to win this season on TOUR.
