PARAMUS, N.J. -- When the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup gets underway next month, 10 lucky fans will have a chance to make their dreams come true -- and those of a local charity -- at The Barclays. Today, tournament officials announced the launch of The Barclays "Make It, Make A Million" promotion, which will culminate with 10 fans taking a shot at a hole-in-one following the third round of competition on Saturday, August 28, at The Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, N.J. An ace is worth a $1 million annuity, with the winner receiving half of the $1 million annuity and the other half of that prize going to Children's Aid and Family Services. No purchase is necessary, and the promotion is only open to New Jersey residents who are amateur golfers.

The shootout will take place on the par-4 7th hole of the non-competition Center course at Ridgewood, where contestants will hit from the middle of the fairway to the green. The shot will measure 150 yards for male contestants and 135 yards for women. For a copy of the official rules and the chance to be one of the 10 lucky participants in "Make It, Make A Million," fans can sign up at www.northjersey.com/TheBarclays beginning today through August 17. The 10 participants each receive two grounds tickets and free parking at The Barclays to enjoy the third round with a guest.

"We are so excited about this new promotion for The Barclays and our fans," said The Barclays Executive Director Peter Mele. "We had such a successful event here at Ridgewood in 2008 and we're thrilled to be back. The Make It, Make A Million contest is our way of giving the Paramus area even more reasons to be excited about the tournament's return, and at the same time, giving Children's Aid and Family Services a platform -- and hopefully $500,000 -- to continue their work that is so vital to the community. We look forward to welcoming those 10 lucky fans to The Barclays and watching them take the chance of a lifetime. And lastly, we truly appreciate the support of our media partners -- The Record and ESPN New York - in this promotion."

Closest-to-the-pin prizing will also be awarded, and if no one is successful in making a hole-in-one, The Barclays will still make a donation to Children's Aid and Family Services.

Children's Aid and Family Services is one of northern New Jersey's leading nonprofit providers of human services and child welfare programs and is a primary beneficiary of The Barclays. Headquartered in Paramus, the agency has facilities in Hackensack, Midland Park, Paramus, Park Ridge, Ridgewood, Bogota, Clifton, South Orange and West Orange. Children's Aid and Family Services' mission is to preserve, protect, and when needed, provide families. Motivated by compassion for vulnerable children, young adults, frail elderly and their families, they provide high-quality and innovative services that meet social, educational and emotional needs.

"The Barclays has been such a great partner to our organization, and many other deserving non-profits in this area," said Bob Jones, Ph.D., president & CEO of Children's Aid and Family Services. "From the opportunity to participate in TICKETS Fore CHARITYTM to the PGA TOUR Wives Association's 'Green Carpet Affair' fundraiser during tournament week and now to this Make It, Make A Million promotion -- there are so many ways in which The Barclays is helping us raise money and touch more lives in the community. We are experiencing first-hand what the PGA TOUR means when it says, 'Together, Anything's Possible.'"

In 2009, The Barclays donated $1 million to local charities, bringing the total amount raised since 1967 to more than $38 million.

The Barclays returns to Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, N.J., after a one-year visit to Liberty National in Jersey City, N.J., in 2009. Steve Stricker won The Barclays in 2007 during the first year of the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup. Vijay Singh claimed The Barclays in 2008, outlasting Sergio Garcia in a playoff, while Heath Slocum edged four of the game's biggest names, Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, Steve Stricker and Padraig Harrington, to capture The Barclays by one stroke last year at Liberty National.
