Davis Love III (71) played his opening-nine holes without a par (six birdies, three bogeys), carding a 3-under 33. Most recently, the feat was recorded three times in 2009 and all on the back nine: Nick O'Hern (Frys.com Open, R1), Martin Laird (Legends Reno-Tahoe Open, R3) and Wil Collins (AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, R3).

Davis Love III has now held at least a share of the 36-hole lead 28 times in his 603 PGA TOUR starts, with five coming at the Arnold Palmer Invitational (1989, 1993, 1998, 1999, 2010). Prior to this week, his most recent second-round leads came in 2003 at The INTERNATIONAL (Win) and the British Open (T4). He has carried that lead on to victory four times (2003 INTERNATIONAL, 1997 Buick Challenge, 1993 SBS Championship, 1992 Verizon Heritage).

Ernie Els has now held at least a share of the 36-hole lead 16 times on the PGA TOUR. He has carried that lead on to victory nine times, most recently at the 2010 World Golf Championships-CA Championship.
Ben Curtis has now held at least a share of the 36-hole lead five times, winning the 2006 84 Lumber Classic and 2006 Booz Allen Classic, and finishing T8 at the 2004 Memorial and T25 at the 2004 Verizon Heritage.
D.J. Trahan has now held the 36-hole lead/co-lead four times, winning the 2008 Bob Hope Classic and the 2006 Viking Classic, and finishing second at the 2007 Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
1997 Arnold Palmer Invitational champion Phil Mickelson (67) moved to 6-under through 36 holes. His round was highlighted with an eagle on the par-4 eighth hole, as he holed a wedge from 134 yards. Mickelson is making his 11th career start at the event, with four top-5 finishes (1-1997, 2-2001, T3-2002, T5-1999) and nine straight made cuts.
Sam Saunders, the grandson of tournament host Arnold Palmer, carded a 2-under 70 on Friday to move to 1-under 143 through 36 holes. He has now made the cut in three of five professional starts on TOUR, recently posting a career-best T17 at the Honda Classic.
Two-time heart transplant recipient Erik Compton (71) moved to 1-under 143 and T29. He has now made the cut in all three starts this season (T40-Mayakoba Golf Classic, T61-Puerto Rico Open).
Kevin Sutherland (T29) is making his 400th career start on TOUR, with this marking his 285th made cut.
The second-round leader/co-leader has gone on to win four of 12 stroke-play events on the PGA TOUR this season, most recently Ernie Els at the World Golf Championships-CA Championship.
The 36-hole leader/co-leader of the Arnold Palmer Invitational has previously gone on to win 16 of 44 times, most recently Kenny Perry in 2005 and Tiger Woods in 2000, 2002 and 2003.
There has not been a multiple winner through the first 13 events of the 2010 season. Since 1983, there have been only three seasons that have gone further into the season without a multiple winner -- 2004 (14 events, Phil Mickelson), 2002 (15 events, Tiger Woods) and 1994 (20 events, Nick Price).
