SONY OPEN AT HAWAII: Transcript archive

Q. A very solid round of golf although you did make your first bogey of the tournament?

JEFF QUINNEY: Yes, that 13th hole was playing pretty tough today. It was a left to right in. Yesterday I had a 7 iron in and cutting 3 wood around the tree, just a little bit different change in the wind direction. But I'm very happy. Just scoring pretty well and just managing my game pretty well.

Q. How have you been so steady in these difficult conditions, there are so many crosswinds out here?

JEFF QUINNEY: I think just staying patient. Maybe hitting in the bunker, or missing a green, or just grinding it out. You are not going to play perfect golf out here. You are just going to make a few putts here and there, just keep going.

Q. Your thoughts on the weekend?

JEFF QUINNEY: Think it's going to be great. I'm excited to be obviously in contention early. I like the course. It kind of suits my game. I never really played it well here before. So it's my first time in contention for the weekend. I feel like I'm coming off the off season sharp.

Q. You and Chad Campbell played together, did you do a little drafting off of each other out there?

JEFF QUINNEY: Yes, it was easy. He kind of lead the whole way, he had the honor of the tee. He was just hitting every fairway, every green. It was easy to watch. We both made a few putts and just sort of fed off of each other.
