Johnson finds himself in a similar position as last year after the first round. Last year, Johnson held the first-round co-lead with Robert Garrigus after a 7-under 65 on Pebble Beach Golf Links.
Johnson tied the tournament record for low back nine score at Pebble Beach Golf Links with a 30. Dan Pohl also recorded a 30 on the back nine in 1980.
Johnson is making his third start at Pebble Beach. He won last year and finished T7 in 2008.
Johnson has held two career first-round leads. He won here last year after holding the first-round lead and finished T3 last week at the Northern Trust Open after holding the first-round lead.
Six of Johnson's eight career rounds at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am are at 69 or better.
J.B. Holmes (PB) has made the cut in all three previous appearances at Pebble Beach. His best finish was T16 in 2007.
Holmes (PB) turned in his career-best first round on the PGA TOUR with a 7-under 65. His previous best first-round score was a 66 at the 2006 Frys.com Open.
K.J. Choi (PB) is making his ninth start at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. He has made six cuts out of his previous eight starts at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, including his last five. His best finish was T4 in 2004.
Charley Hoffman's (MP) 6-under 64 tops his previous career best first-round score by one shot. Hoffman's career-low round is a 63 from the 2008 Bob Hope Classic and the 2009 Valero Texas Open.
Hoffman is making his fifth start at Pebble Beach. He has one missed cut here and his best finish is T14 (2009).
Blake Adams (T5/MP) had never played a round on the PGA TOUR prior to this year. He finished T25 at his debut at the Sony Open in Hawaii, missed the cut at the Bob Hope Classic and finished T63 at the Farmers Insurance Open. He has recorded under-par scores in nine of his first 13 rounds on the TOUR.
Brian Gay has never made a cut at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in three previous starts (1999, 2000 and 2001). In his previous nine rounds at this tournament, he only had one in the 60s. He turned in a 69 in the third-round in 2001.
David Duval started his round birdie-birdie for the second straight week. Prior to the 2010 Northern Trust Open, the last time Duval (SH) started birdie-birdie at an event at the 2007 Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines (North Course) -- he actually started the opening round with four consecutive birdies on No. 1-4. Prior to that, he started birdie-birdie on No. 10 and No. 11 in the first round of the 2006 Nissan Open.
Derek Lamely (MP) used a 7-iron to ace No. 14 from 155 yards.
Since 1936, there have been nine occasions in the United States where a major championship was contested on a course that also hosted a PGA TOUR event that same season. Tiger Woods (2000 and 2008), Jack Nicklaus (1972) and Ben Hogan (1948) are the only three players to ever win both the TOUR event and the major championship that were held on the same course in the same year.

This year, the world-famous, par-5 18th hole at Pebble Beach will be featured as the Kodak Challenge hole. The Kodak Challenge is a first-of-its kind competition on the PGA TOUR. A different hole is selected at most events throughout the year and featured as that week's Kodak Challenge hole.
Monterey Peninsula Country Club's Shore Course returns to the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am for the first time since 1977 when Tom Watson won. The Shore Course was also part of the rotation in 1965 (Bruce Crampton) and 1966 (Don Massengale).
This year marks the 25th anniversary of AT&T's sponsorship of Pebble Beach, the longest continuous relationship on TOUR.
