More Destinations

Black Horse Golf Club: There are two courses, both designed by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy. At 7,301 yards, the North is slightly longer, but both provide modern challenges in a scenic setting.

Memorial Park Golf Course: Located just minutes from downtown, this course designed by John Bredemus defies expectations of a big-city muni. The heavily wooded layout is an urban sanctuary and was good enough to host the Houston Open.

Redstone Golf Club: There are two layouts here, the private Member course and the Tournament course, which is open to the public 51 weeks a year. The other week, it is the domain of tour pros competing in the Shell Houston Open.

Where to Stay

Houstonian Hotel: Sitting on 18 acres in the middle of the city, the property offers an urban retreat with its accommodations, grounds, expansive fitness center and renowned spa.

Magnolia Hotel: This centrally located hotel is near all of the attractions and activities of downtown, including restaurants, corporate offices, the theater district and Minute Maid Park.

Woodlands Resort: Located in the eponymous master-planned community north of Houston that is a city onto itself, the resort features two courses -- Oaks and Panther Trail -- in addition to other amenities.

Where to Eat

Hubbell & Hudson: In addition to the sophisticated menu that features an ever-changing selection based on the ingredients available, this bistro is attached to a gourmet market that is ideal for browsing.

Mark's American Cuisine: This favorite among Houstonians looking to celebrate a special occasion features an interesting range of dishes served in a unique environment: a converted church dating from the 1920s.

Vic and Anthony's: One of the best steakhouses in the city is conveniently located downtown. But no matter which cut you order for your entree, be sure to start your meal with the crab cake.
