VESTAL, N.Y. -- The Dick's Sporting Goods Open is proud to announce that 1989 British Open and 12-time PGA TOUR winner Mark Calcavecchia will make his Champions Tour debut at the 2010 Dick's Sporting Goods Open. He will be joined by previously announced Champions Tour professionals Joey Sindelar, Mike Hulbert, Wayne Levi, Fred Funk, Ronnie Black, Jay Haas, defending champion Lonnie Nielsen and fellow Champions Tour Rookie Tommy Armour III. The 2010 Champions Tour event will be held the week of June 21st-27th at the En-Joie Golf Course in Endicott, N.Y.
"Mark and I had an opportunity to speak last fall and he is very excited about joining the Champions Tour," said tournament director John Karedes. "He had already heard that the Dick's Sporting Goods Open was a premier event on the Champions Tour; this, coupled with the fact that he is familiar with the golf course, made it a no-brainer that this is where he was going to make his debut."
Calcavecchia who turns 50 on June 12th participated in six B.C. Open's at the En-Joie Golf Course, the most recent in 1993. He currently ranks 17th in Career Earnings on the PGA TOUR. His best finish on the PGA TOUR in 2010 is T24th at the Puerto Rico Open.
The 2010 Dick's Sporting Goods Open will be played at the En-Joie Golf Course June 21st-27th. Activities throughout the week include a 2-Day Pro-Am, Dennis Walter's Golf Show, women's golf clinic conducted by World Golf Hall of Fame Member Donna Caponi and the Friday Concert featuring Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty..
