EXPERT PREVIEW: PGA TOUR on-site correspondent John Maginnes previews Friday's action:

The opening round of the McGladrey Classic was spectacular with the golf course in perfect shape and the weather doing its part. The McGladrey is an instant success among debuts on the PGA TOUR this year. The good folks at the Sea Island Club knew they had a special place. Now the best players in the world know it too.
Cool temperatures greeted the morning wave Thursday and that will be the case again on Friday. Early scoring will be tough for the first few groups as the ball isn't flying very far in the sub 60 degree weather early in the morning. But it warms up quickly this time of year and long before lunch on Friday it should be another great day. The winds that are typical this time of year aren't supposed to be that big a factor throughout the rest of the weekend.
John Rollins will play in the afternoon wave Friday and that may be to his advantage. He probably won't be leading when he tees off, but the way that he is rolling his rock, he should continue to be a factor. John, like a lot of the players in the field, has spent time at Sea Island before working with Todd Anderson, the head of instruction and Morris Pickins the resort's sports psychologist.
Of the local residents it is the newest, Matt Kuchar, who got off to the best start. He shot three under and is four behind Rollins. Kuchar and his family have been moving here for the last few weeks. He said that there were still a few unopened boxes in the house but they can wait until next week. Matt, Davis Love III and Zach Johnson play early on Friday and can then all drive across the island to their respective houses.
