Rocco Mediate has accepted a spot into the 2010 U.S. Open Championship that became available because Lee Westwood, the winner of the St. Jude Classic, was already in the field.

A place in the field had been held open for any player who won multiple PGA TOUR co-sponsored events between June 21, 2009 and June 13, 2010.

Mediate shot 67-70 -- 137 in the sectional qualifier at Brookside G. & C.C. and The Lakes G. &. C.C. in Columbus, Ohio on June 7 to finish as first alternate.

Mediate, of Greensburg, Pa., has played in 14 previous U.S. Opens, including a runner-up finish after a playoff with Tiger Woods in 2008.
