RENO, Nev. -- The Reno-Tahoe Open announced on Monday that PGA TOUR professional Scott McCarron has agreed to be the host of the 2010 tournament at Montrêux Golf & Country Club, July 12- 18. In addition, the tournament also named its main charitable beneficiary for the year, the Nevada Military Support Alliance. Both announcements were made during an event held at the Eldorado Resort Casino and attended by Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation board members, sponsors and members of the media.

"We are very excited about these two partnerships," said Jana Smoley, executive director of the Reno-Tahoe Open. "Having an ambassador like local resident Scott McCarron gives our event added credibility and obviously helps with recruiting players and sponsors. Add to that a charitable organization like the Nevada Military Support Alliance that focuses on such a noble cause and you can see why we're looking forward to this year's tournament."

"I'm proud to support the Reno-Tahoe Open as its host for 2010," remarked McCarron. "Montrêux is my home course and I consider it a pleasure to do whatever I can to help promote the tournament and its remarkable charitable contribution programs. The more successful the tournament, the more help it can provide to these non-profit organizations and I'm happy to be involved in anything that has such a broad, impactful reach."

"This is an exciting time not only for the Reno-Tahoe Open but also for the Nevada Military Support Alliance as a beneficiary of the time and energy invested by the tournament and its staff and board of directors," said Perry DiLoreto, president and chairman of the Support Alliance. "The Mission of the Nevada Military Support Alliance is to organize and inspire community support to help meet the needs of Nevada's service members, veterans, and their families. Partnering with the Reno-Tahoe Open helps make this vision a reality and I encourage you all to help support the tournament in its mission to help others."

The Reno-Tahoe Open offers free admission into the tournament for all military personnel with identification including a Heroes Luncheon with funds benefiting the Nevada Military Support Alliance; an on-site military museum (also open to the public); the Patriot's Outpost on the 18th fairway open to Guard, Reserve, Veteran and Active Duty personnel; and the Soldier for the Day program, allowing children to follow maps and make stops at several stations throughout the course to collect military-inspired toys.

Locally, the Reno-Tahoe Open has dedicated itself to helping non-profits and area schools help themselves. The tournament recently announced two additional charitable contribution programs for 2010, Birdies for Charity and Chip in for Schools, which allow registered charities to raise money by selling tickets to the tournament or signing up community members to make a pledge-per-birdie he or she thinks will be made during this year's event. Organizations signed up for either program are allowed to keep 100 percent of all proceeds raised.
