Choi tied for fifth after first round of Malaysian Open

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) -- Rhys Davies and Ignacio Garrido have shot 7-under 65s to lead the Malaysian Open by one stroke after the first round on Thursday.

Thongchai Jaidee and Kim Dae-hyun shot 66s, and seven-time PGA TOUR winner K.J. Choi had a 67 to tie for fifth alongside Mark Foster, Alejandro Canizares and Mark Haastrup at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club.

Davies, who has played on the Asian Tour for the last two years, made seven birdies.
