Nationwide Tour grads won't count toward q-school top 25Dec. 6, 2010 | | PGATOUR.com When the sixth round of the PGA TOUR National Qualifying Tournament concludes today at Orange County National, the top 25 players and ties will receive PGA TOUR cards for the 2011 season. In addition, there are four players who earned TOUR cards by finishing among the top 25 on the Nationwide Tour seeking to improve their position at q-school today. These players would not count toward the top 25 and ties or the number nearest to 50 that determines fully-exempt Nationwide Tour membership for the first 10 events on the 2011 season. The four players are Jim Herman (No. 19), Joe Affrunti (No. 22), Michael Putnam (No. 24) and Justin Hicks (No. 25). The latter three entered the final round inside the all-important top 25 -- Putnam (T9), Affrunti (T22) and Hicks (T22) -- while Herman was tied for 61st. No matter what happens today, though, everyone will have some place to play. After the TOUR and Nationwide Tour cards are handed out, the rest of the field receives conditional status on the Nationwide Tour. After the first 10 events, the fully-exempt Nationwide Tour members from q-school will be subjected to the re-order/conditional category. |
