Go ask Kevin Streelman if the Kodak Challenge made a difference. He won the title last year and with it $1 million, which nearly matches his earnings for this season.
At just 9 under and in the middle of the pack of the Kodak Challenge standings entering the Fall Series, though, Streelman isn't going to repeat. So who will win this year's Kodak Challenge? Here's a breakdown of contenders.
Rickie Fowler: The good news is he holds a two-stroke lead. The bad news is he won't be able to add to his 14 under total this week since he'll be playing in the Ryder Cup and not in the Viking Classic.
Troy Merritt: With Fowler not in the field, Merritt will have an opportunity to cut into his two-stroke deficit. Merritt has a nice little run going, too, having birdied the Kodak hole each of his last seven starts.
Carl Pettersson: The Swede is one of six players at 11 under and has shown, on occasion, an ability to go super low (see last year's 61 at the Wyndham Championship). Of course he's also missed three of his last four cuts after winning the RBC Canadian Open in July.
Lee Janzen: Janzen didn't qualify for the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup, so he hasn't played since the Wyndham Championship. When he has played, however, he's performed well with a birdie on the Kodak hole each of his last six starts.
John Senden: Also at 11 under entering the Fall Series, Senden has played better than any of his fellow Kodak Contenders with top-15 finishes in two Playoffs events, including an eighth-place finish at the Deutsche Bank Championship.
