The race is heating up for spots in the 2010 FedExCup playoffs. With just six weeks to go until the playoffs start, each tournament becomes more and more valuable to those on the 125-man cutline.

With the TOUR splitting up into two spots this week, the opportunities double for someone on the cutline to make a move up into the top 125. The Old Course at St. Andrews offers a greater reward for a high finish, but the competition and elements are both difficult to overcome. In Reno, Nev. at the Reno-Tahoe Open, the FedExCup points aren't as plentiful, but the sun will be shining and scores can be low.

Playing in Reno are 15 golfers ranked between 125 and 150 in the current FedExCup standings. With a win, any of them would move into the top 75 and become a pretty safe bet to make the Playoffs.

Matt Every peaked at 46 earlier this season, but has spent 10 weeks outside the top 100, falling out of the top 125 for the second time last week. He tees off at 4:48 p.m. Thursday with Aron Price (148th).

Four-time TOUR winner Steve Flesch has not made a cut in four tries since finishing eighth at the Valero Texas Open. He has slipped from 104th all the way to 138th in the standings, but could climb back into the playoff picture with a finish of seventh or better.

On the other side of the pond, Cameron Percy (159th), Henrik Stenson (165th) and Trevor Immelman (167th) have all been on the outside looking in this season. Any of them could make a big splash with a win, or use a top-5 finish to move into the top 125 for the first time in 2010.

The following is a closer look at players on the bubble, and where a top 10 finish at the Reno-Tahoe Open or the British Open would move them in the FedExCup standings.
