It was the 2009 grads of the Nationwide Tour who made the biggest impression at the Puerto Rico Open last week. Derek Lamely took home the win and Steve Wheatcroft finished tied for third to shoot up the FedExCup rankings. Even with Lamely's win, he is only ranked third among rookies, with Rickie Fowler (17th) and Alex Prugh (24th) ahead of him.
Kris Blanks was the biggest riser of the week, though, grabbing second place in Puerto Rico to move up 109 spots to 78th. Blanks, who didn't fair well during the West Coast swing this season, got his 2010 PGA TOUR card by finishing T12 at Q-school.
Padraig Harrington's game also started to show signs off life at the WGC-CA Championship. The three-time major winner kicked off the year with a missed cut at the Northern Trust Open, but finished a strong T3 at TPC Blue Monster to gain some upward traction in the rankings.
The biggest drop of the week was Australia's Mathew Goggin, who fell 16 spots to 95th. He missed the cut in his last start at The Honda Classic, and missed three other cuts before that. Alex Cejka also continued his fall down the rankings. Aside from a top 10 at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am and a T26 at The Honda Classic, Cejka has struggled to make cuts and break 70.
