GOLF CHANNEL will air an hourlong "Champions Tour Year End Special" on Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. ET commemorating a memorable season.
The special will highlight the race for the 2009 Charles Schwab Cup, clinched by Loren Roberts in the final event of the year. Roberts outlasted Fred Funk and Bernhard Langer to capture the season-long points race for the second time in three years.
Langer had the strongest first half of any player on Tour in 2009, opening with seven straight top-10s and winning four times through mid-July. Roberts took over with wins in July (Senior Open Championship) and August (Boeing Classic).
John Cook won two of the final three events, including the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship, to gain momentum heading into 2010.
The recently completed Champions Tour q-school will also be featured on the broadcast. Five players earned 2010 Tour cards, including one in a playoff, at TPC Scottsdale in November.
GOLF CHANNEL's program, which re-airs at midnight, will also provide player features and look into the Tour's charitable initiatives during the last year.
