| Palmer, along with Jack Nicklaus and Byron Nelson, was honored with the inaugural Payne Stewart Award in 2000. The award is given to a golfer who, like Stewart, exudes respect and charitable support for the game. (Learn more about the award) |
| In 2004, Palmer became the first golfer to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom, America's highest civilian honor awarded to individuals who make major contributions to changing the world for the better. Congress also voted to give him the Congressional Golf Medal in April 2009, and Palmer received the Byron Nelson Prize (and $100,000 to a charity of his choice) at the HP Byron Nelson Championship earlier this year. |
