OTARU, Japan (AP) -- Japanese teenager Ryo Ishikawa closed with a 5-under 67 on Sunday to win the Sun Chlorella Classic.
Ishikawa carded eight birdies against three bogeys to finish at 17-under 271, one stroke ahead of Australian Brendan Jones.
Jones missed a 12-foot birdie putt on the par-4 18th before Ishikawa made a 10-footer to secure the win.
"It came down to the final hole," said Ishikawa, who led from the first round. "Brendan pushed till the end and is a great player. I tip my hat to him."
The 17-year-old Ishikawa won for the fourth time in his career, and the third time as a pro. He became the youngest winner of a sanctioned tour when he won the Munsingwear Open KSB Cup at 15 two years ago.
Ishikawa's winner's prize of $316,000 moved him to the top of the Japan tour's 2009 money rankings.
Ishikawa, who missed the cut this year at the Masters and the British Open, has received an invitation to the PGA Championship which begins on Aug. 13 at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Minnesota.
