The British Open will take place at Turnberry this week. Here's how the PGATOUR.COM experts sized up the top contenders:
SLEEPER PICKS How it works: Our 10 experts from PGATOUR.COM select any player who isn't ranked in the top 30 of the FedExCup rankings, the Official World Golf Ranking and the Race to Dubai. The player also must not have won in 2008 or 2009. By using a draft process, no two picks can be the same. EXPERT PICKS Who do our experts think will capture the British Open title? Here's who they've picked to win. Click here |

GRAEME MCDOWELL. McDowell, who shocked some of us by playing so well for the Europeans at last year's Ryder Cup, should contend in Scotland. McDowell is unique in that he has local experience and has also contended on such a large stage. |
Lauren Deason |
JUSTIN ROSE. The world was first introduced to Rose at the 1998 British Open, where he tied for fourth. It's the major the Englishman most wants to win and, now that his back is healed, Rose said he's ready to capture the Claret Jug.

John Swantek |
COLIN MONTGOMERIE. The 2006 U.S. Open will always be remembered for Phil Mickelson's meltdown, but that was Monty's major after 71 holes. I thing the Scot has one more magical run in him - on home soil.
Mike McAllister |
DAVID DUVAL. He flashed his old form just three weeks ago at the U.S. Open and he obviously is comfortable on links courses, having won the Open in 2001. It won't be nearly the shock it was at Bethpage if he contends this week. |
Helen Ross |
SOREN KJELDSEN. Kjeldsen may not be a household name on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. But the 33-year-old Dane is someone to watch after finishing third, T9, T13 and T4 in his last four starts. |
Brian Wacker |
FRANCESCO MOLINARI. The younger brother of former U.S. Amateur champion Edoardo Molinari, Francesco has a half-dozen finishes in the top 11 on the European Tour this year and also shot 63 in the first round of the Irish Open. |
Mark Spoor |
NICK FALDO. Hey, the whole "old guy coming back to compete with the young guys" thing worked for Greg Norman last year, what's to say it won't work for Faldo this year? Maybe coaching those young guys in the Ryder Cup last year did something for him.
Ceri Mobley |
MIGUEL ANGEL JIMENEZ. The Mechanic has a top-25, a top-15 and a top-five in his last three starts. He's old enough to have played at Turnberry in '94, but still good enough to make some noise 15 years later.
T.J. Auclair |
TOM LEHMAN. He's not too old to win and he nearly proved it at the Transitions Championship earlier in the year. The former Open Champion lives for links-style golf. I'm not saying he'll win this week, but don't be surprised if he contends. |
Ryan Smithson |
PAUL GOYDOS. I like a guy who doesn't put any pressure on himself. He hits the ball really straight and, at this point, I just want a top-25 finish from a sleeper pick. |
LAST WEEK: Lauren Deason's John Deere Classic sleeper pick, Brandt Snedeker, tied for second, which helped her nearly catch Helen Ross. Each week, we'll update the standings based on the FedExCup points accumulated by the players selected by our experts. Here's how it stands after Week 27:
