The 2008 Wendy's Champions Skins Game will take place at Royal Kaanapali Golf Course in Lahaina, Hawaii. Eight of the best and most entertaining golfers in history will compete in the two-day event. To catch the action from Down Under, tune in to ESPN from 4-6 p.m. on Feb. 23 and Feb. 24, 2008.
The following players make up the teams this year:
Jack Nicklaus & Tom Watson
Arnold Palmer & Jay Haas
Gary Player & Loren Roberts
Fuzzy Zoeller & Peter Jacobsen
Nicklaus, winner of 18 major championships on the PGA TOUR and considered by many to be the greatest golfer of all time, teamed with Tom Watson last year and they won the tournament for the pair's third title. Watson, a 39-time PGA TOUR winner, and Nicklaus won seven skins on the back nine to beat Arnold Palmer and Jay Haas.
Palmer and Haas, both products of Wake Forest University, captured three skins and $140,000 in 2007. Palmer was victorious 62 times on the PGA TOUR, including eight major championships. With 10 victories in three years, Haas is currently one of the Champions Tour's top players and is the reigning Player of the Year.
Gary Player captured 24 titles in his PGA TOUR career and over 163 worldwide. In 2007, the man known as the Black Knight was the Captain of the International squad at the Presidents Cup. He will be joined by Loren Roberts, one of the best putters and players on the Champions Tour.
Zoeller and Jacobsen are two of the most entertaining players in the game and bring laughter as well as talent to the Wendy's Champions Skins Game. Zoeller is a former Masters champion and U.S. Open winner who captured eight other titles on the PGA TOUR. Jacobsen has amassed nine titles total on the PGA TOUR and Champions Tour.
In the Skins Game format, each hole is given a dollar value and the group must win the hole in order to capture that money. If no one wins the hole, the skins value is added to the next hole and continues to accumulate until someone wins.
