Players who played their way into, and out of, East Lake

Here is the list of players who, over the course of the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup, played their way into THE TOUR Championship, along with the list of those who fell out.

No one outside the top 70 played their way into THE TOUR Championship. Kevin Streelman had an impressive three weeks -- a tie for fourth, a tie for 50th and a tie for 22nd -- to come closest, moving up from 102nd to 35th. In the end, though, he couldn't overcome the 2,880-point disadvantage he started with, finishing 416 points short of 30th. If he had started 92nd instead of 102nd, he'd be in.

With the exception of Stephen Ames, none of the players who fell out of the top 30 had a finish better than a tie for 24th, and all missed at least one cut. Ames started as the 30th seed, and very nearly recovered from his missed cut at The Barclays and tie for 50th at the Deutsche Bank with a tie for fifth at the BMW Championship. He fell 238 points short.

Ames was beaten out for the 30th spot by Chad Campbell, whose results were very similar to Ames'. Campbell, by virtue of his 14 seed, started the Playoffs with 520 more points than Ames, and eventually beat him out by 242.

Final note on seeding: Vijay Singh has wrapped up the FedExCup with an insurmountable 10,601-point lead over Camilo Villegas. If Singh had been the eighth seed instead of seventh, Villegas would still be alive for the Cup.
