ST. LOUIS (AP) -- An eventful week for Ryder Cup pick Chad Campbell ended Saturday when he withdrew from the BMW Championship because his wife started contractions at home in Dallas.

This will be the first child for Campbell and his wife, Amy.

His week began with a 66 in the final round Monday of the Deutsche Bank Championship, one last impression on U.S. captain Paul Azinger. The next day, Campbell was in the parking lot of a Dallas hospital on his mobile phone during a conference call that announced him as one of four captain's picks. His wife was inside for a checkup.

He'll leave for the Ryder Cup on Sept. 15.

Campbell opened the BMW Championship with a 3-over 73. He is No. 14 in the FedEx Cup standings and is nearly assured of finishing among the top 30 to earn a place in THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola a week after the Ryder Cup.
