At 45 years, 6 months, 2 days, Singh is the third-oldest champion in The Barclays 41-year history, behind Bob Murphy (48/5/15 in 1968) and J.C. Snead (46/8/0 in 1987).
This win is his fourth at The Barclays (1993, 1995, 2006, 2008) in 16 starts (no other player has won the event more than twice). He has eight top-10 finishes at The Barclays, which is tied for second all-time with Fred Couples, Tom Kite and Tom Watson (Jack Nicklaus is first with nine).
He becomes the 18th winner of The Barclays (of 42) to come from behind to claim the title. Three of his four wins at The Barclays were come-from-behind victories.
Singh won his third playoff at The Barclays (3-0). He defeated Mark Wiebe in 1993 after a three-hole playoff and defeated Doug Martin in 1995 after a five-hole playoff.
2008 NOTES
With paycheck of $1,260,000, he has now earned $5,192,531, marking the sixth consecutive season with more than $4 million earned and the fourth season in his career where he's earned at least $5 million (2003-05).
His win is the second of the 2008 season (World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational, which was three weeks ago). This marks the ninth season of his career in which he has won at least two tournaments (1995, 1997, 1998, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008).
Singh is one of four winners his 40s this year, along with Kenny Perry, who has won three times, Steve Lowery and Greg Kraft.
He is 1-1 in playoffs this season, losing the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am to Steve Lowery in a one-hole playoff.
CAREER NOTES
Singh win his 33rd PGA TOUR victory and is now solo 13th all-time on the PGA TOUR for wins and three spots shy of No. 12 (Lloyd Mangrum with 36). With his 32nd win last month at the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational, Singh became the winningest international player in PGA TOUR history.
He has won 24 different PGA TOUR events.
His 21 wins since turning 40 are the most by a player over the age of 40; Sam Snead had 17.
He has 55 career professional victories worldwide (33 PGA TOUR, 22 international).
Thirteen of Singh's 33 career PGA TOUR victories have come when he was trailing heading into the final round.
He holds an 8-4 career record in playoffs on the PGA TOUR.
